All 'teeth and curls', soon-superstar Tom Baker couldn't have asked for a better opening season from which to launch one of the most successful and defining eras in the show's history, aided by the equally terrific onscreen pairing of his companions Elisabeth Sladen as plucky Sarah Jane Smith and Ian Marter as the bumbling-ly heroic Dr. Harry Sullivan.
