ESCAPE TO DANGER!

Having managed to evade their pursuers on the shores of Australia on an Earth of the far future, the Doctor and his companions, helped by the newly arrived Astrid Herrier, get their bearings, during the action-packed opening to The Enemy of the World. An exciting sequence captured on location by director, and soon series producer, Barry Letts, and his team.

BREAKING THE SPELL!

Now removed against her will from the safety of the TARDIS by the unique powers of the Zarbi and their Animus controller, Barbara's mind-controlled journey towards capture is interrupted and stopped by the presence of the friendly Menoptera resistance fighters, in a memorable moment from the under-rated purely sci-fi tale, The Web Planet.

A CUP OF TEA AND A SLICE OF TERROR!

The friendly formalities of tea and crumpets by a roaring fire are now truly over for the captured Mel at the troubled Paradise Towers facility, with the once seemingly charming old biddies Tabby and Tilda showing their true colours as rabid elderly cannibals, during a lively moment from Stephen Wyatt's quirky and original story for the opening Sylvester McCoy season.

ASSEMBLING FOR TRIAL DUTY...

When it comes to the important trial of the soon-to-be-captured renegade known as the Doctor, only the most learned talents capable of dispensing legalities and justice towards and against him will do, of which the seemingly incorruptible Inquisitor and the Time Lord's fierce and calculating prosecuting officer, the Valeyard, fit the brief. A memorable pairing on screen of glamorous and stately Lynda Bellingham, alongside respected character actor Michael Jayston, who'd both appear in their respective roles across all fourteen episodes of the bold The Trial of a Time Lord season comprising the show's twenty-third make-or-break year.

Lovely work by Alister Pearson for the ultimately unused cover art, I believe due to contractual reasons, for The Ultimate Foe Target Books adaptation.

I was very sorry to hear of the passing of Mister Jayston today (5/2/24) after a short illness. A respected actor  with a considerable career of accomplishment, who will be much-missed.
