When you've got a silver anniversary, what better hosts could you get for the cutting the cake ceremony than The Doctor's second greatest enemies, the silver Cybermen themselves, as Sylvester McCoy and Sophie Aldred pose for a fun celebration press photocall during the location filming of Silver Nemesis, back in 1988.

A ROBOT OF RAVALOX!

The mystery surrounding the disappearance of Earth into a new world called 'Ravalox' is only the beginning to a web of deceit and conspiracy which the Doctor must investigate, encountering a mysterious and egocentrically dedicated robot, Drathro, guarding the secrets of 'the Sleepers'. It's the enjoyable start to The Trial of a Time Lord, and The Mysterious Planet.

Under its guise as The Master, the controlled shapeshifting android Kamelion, as ever out to win the crowds, verbally lashes out at The Doctor, accusing of him of heresy, in the penultimate adventure of the Peter Davison era, and a tale packed with story arcs to wrap up amidst some lovely Lanzarote location filming: Planet of Fire.

FENDAHL FRIGHTS!

An alien threat hidden within the evolutionary genetic coding of the human race it now plans to devour, the Fendahl creature would be one of the most intriguing and scary-looking monsters ever to appear in the later Tom Baker seasons, as Image of the Fendahl, from all-time WHO writing great Chris Boucher, briefly escaped the restrictions then enforced on the series by the BBC to tone down its Gothic Horror quotient. Backed up with great sound effects design from Dick Mills, I still vividly remember the creature's scary appearance marking the end of episode three's cliffhanger back in the day.

A CHILLY RECEPTION!

Seemingly benevolent after the Third Doctor's important last 'visit' to Peladon, new assistant Sarah Jane Smith gets a shock with regards to the Ice Warriors delegation there, in this memorable posed image from The Monster of Peladon. After many years looking at the moment in print, I remember my disappointment at not seeing it turn up in the actual story when I finally got to see it in the eighties.
