'THE DALEKS' MASTER PLAN' AT 60: BEHIND THE SCENES...

Sylvia James prepares William Hartnell's unique wig during a special publicity shoot. Note the Mavic Chen wig on the make-up table. Colourized image by Clayton Hickman.

The Daleks' Master Plan would be an ambitious and highly demanding production that certainly taxed the series dedicated behind the scenes team in every way, though to many at TV Centre, the metal monsters were starting to become less enamouring, despite still getting great viewer ratings. Special credit to director Douglas Camfield and the show's two designers in Raymond Cusick and Barry Newbery in their work creating a masterpiece of a 'Master Plan' that continues to win acclaim from fans and critics sixty years on....

Enjoy this small behind the scenes selection from the classic tale...
