The once benign and beloved Padmasambhava has now been revealed as the possessed manipulator of building evil events. Possessed by the incredible power of the Great Intelligence, he is soon fought in mental battle by the courageous Doctor, whilst his companions and the monks rush to destroy vital equipment needed by the alien menace located within the monastery sanctum.
The battle is hard won but the Doctor is victorious - the Great Intelligence is defeated (presumed destroyed) as Padmasambhava's frail body collapses, dies and then disintegrates (the latter sequence being a practical make-up effect filmed but ultimately cut from the TV version for being too scary for children viewers). Simultaneously, the Yeti de-activate and the mountain, once downwards oozing the malevolence of the Intelligence, explodes!
Life can finally return to normal at the monastery, whilst a still-eager Professor Travers continues his search for a real and peaceful Yeti creature.
