Going for a complete culture shock opposite to the series previous long-running 'modern' Earth companion in Sarah Jane Smith, the Fourth Doctor's new fellow adventurer in Time and Space would be that excellent warrior of the Sevateem, Leela, eager to learn from the Time Lord and confident in action to protect him against the many dangers ahead. RSC actress Louise Jameson would truly make her mark as Leela, the actress, quickly winning fans young and old, seen here in a series of early make-up test/publicity images for the character.
Terrance Dicks' briskly paced novelisation of Leela's first adventure, the sci-fi concepter The Face of Evil, makes a welcome transfer to audio reading via BBC AUDIO, from April 7th, 2022. And who better to read Leela's introduction than Louise Jameson herself.
