CLASSIC ART: GOLDEN PERIL!

Earth has never been in a more vulnerable, or dangerous, state from such distinctive foes emergent from outer space: the vampire-ish golden monsters, the Axons, with their parasitic symbiont powers, and the vindictive Time Lord menace that is the Master, returned to destroy the Doctor in the process...

Great art by the ever-excellent Daryl Joyce showcasing another Jon Pertwee gem, The Claws of Axos!

INTO THE CYBER-TRAP!

Watch out, Zoe! Image colourisation by Clayton Hickman.

On the mysterious Silver Carrier space craft, plucky astrophysicist Zoe Herriot has found the vitally needed Bernalium Rods for the space wheel's weapons system, but is soon in danger from the once-hidden Cybermen, in this great specially posed publicity image for the partially lost classic The Wheel in Space.

Classic Radio Times promo for the story, and the introduction of Zoe.

Look out for the official audio LP soundtrack release of the David Whitaker story from Demon Records, available from February 13th, 2026...

A TIME OF PROSPERITY AND SECRETS...

Within the sparkling, technologically advanced City of the Elders, two of its popular citizens, Flower (Kay Patrick) and Avon (Robert Sidaway), enjoy their lives and the new visitors to their world, if  avoiding and not recognising the true cost behind the shiny veneer of decadent civilisation to which they are a part, in a great image from the still all too underappreciated, The Savages.

FISHY FRIGHTS WITH 'THE PESCATONS'!

Underwater dangers and a threat to London and the Earth from brutal reptilian aliens are on the cards for the Doctor and Sarah Janes Smith, as 'the Pescaton invasion has begun...' Great art from the 1985 Argo Records re-issue cover for Doctor Who and the Pescations, which looks as striking and memorable as ever.

I listened to this record constantly over the late seventies and always enjoyed it. Tom Baker and Elisabeth Sladen were terrific as ever in recorded media, and the fierce Pescatons conceived by former Who Script Editor Victor Pemberton were a sound designed winner - it's a shame they never made it to live-action form, they had great potential!

Art by Jeff Cummins.

The original fast-paced novel adaptation by Pemberton finally makes it onto BBC Audiobooks from January, 2026, read by the excellent Jon Culshaw.
